About Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specific type of therapeutic massage that encourages the functioning of the Lymphatic System, stimulating the transport of metabolic wastes and toxins through the lymphatic fluid into the bloodstream towards the heart and then flushing out of the body.

As the Lymphatic System does not have a pump like the heart, it relies on intrinsic contractions of smooth muscle cells in the walls of lymphatic vessels and movement of skeletal muscles to propel lymph to be transported to the Circulatory System.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a wonderful tool and a safe, non-invasive procedure to stimulate this function and increase the healthy balance of body fluids.

Some health conditions and metabolic changes can cause lymph fluid to build up in the interstitial space, causing swelling, discomfort and pain.
